Hongguang Liu, MD, PhD
Dr. Liu started his practice in Redding, California in July 2012 after finishing his gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Dr. Liu is board certified in Gastroenterology. He received his MD degree from Binzhou Medical College and his PhD degree from Tongji Medical University in China. During his PhD studies, he also received intensive training in microsurgery techniques and a residency training in Hand Surgery. After that, he moved to the US doing medical science research first at Seton Hall University then at Harvard Medical School. His studies won numerous research awards and resulted in multiple publications. Dr. Liu completed his internal medicine residency at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in New Jersey before he moved to Chicago for his gastroenterology fellowship.
Dr. Liu’s extensive experience in research provides him the deep insight into disease formation and progression and enables him to diagnose and treat medical problems more thoroughly and effectively. Dr. Liu’s unique training in microsurgery gives him the dexterous hand skills to do procedures more precisely and efficiently, which results in much less complications and better outcome.
Dr. Liu has a broad spectrum of interests in conditions that affect your digestive tract, such as the esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, bile duct, small and large intestine, and rectum.
