About Hongguang Liu, MD, PhD

Dr. Hongguang Liu has been providing expert gastroenterology care to the Redding, California community since July 2012. He offers a uniquely comprehensive approach to digestive health, combining an extensive background in medical research with advanced, precision-based clinical training.

An International Academic Foundation

Dr. Liu earned his Medical Degree (MD) from Binzhou Medical College, followed by a PhD from Tongji Medical University in China. During his doctoral studies, he completed intensive training in microsurgery techniques and a residency in Hand Surgery. He then moved to the United States to conduct advanced medical science research at Seton Hall University and Harvard Medical School, where his work earned numerous research awards and resulted in multiple peer-reviewed publications.

Comprehensive Clinical Training

Dr. Liu completed his Internal Medicine residency at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in New Jersey before moving to Chicago, where he completed his specialized Gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He brings decades of diverse medical experience to his patients.
